Colistin-Belpharm 1 MIU

International nonproprietary name: Colistin
Antibiotic polypeptide cyclic. Colistimethate sodium is formed by Bacillus polymixa, subspecies colistinus. Colistimethate is a methanesulfonate of colistin. Colistimethate sodium has a bactericidal effect on gram-negative microorganisms in the division and resting stages by changing the structure and function of the outer and cytoplasmic membrane.

Indications of the active substances of the drug:
  • treatment of respiratory tract infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, in cystic fibrosis;
  • treatment of certain severe infections caused by gram-negative bacteria, including lower respiratory tract and urinary tract infections, when more widely used systemic antibacterial agents are contraindicated or ineffective due to the development of bacterial resistance.
