International nonproprietary name: Imipenem / Cilastatin
A broad-spectrum antibiotic of the carbapenem group. It has a bactericidal effect due to the inhibition of the bacterial cell wall.
It is active against aerobic gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp. (including strains producing penicillinase), Streptococcus spp., Enterococcus faecalis, Nocardia spp., Listeria spp.; aerobic gram-negative bacteria: Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Providencia spp., Salmonella spp., Serratia spp., Shigella spp., Yersinia spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter spp., Campylobacter spp., Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria spp.; anaerobic bacteria: Bacteroides spp.

Indications of the active ingredients of the drug:
  • Infections of the abdominal organs, lower respiratory tract, genitourinary system, gynecological infections, septicemia, infective endocarditis, infections of bones and joints, skin and soft tissues. Prevention of postoperative infections.
